D³SCR!PTION

once again all you see here is fantasy and no reality simulation kind of work. imagine you’re on a distant planet. maybe stranded… totally lost. the only thing you hear is the roaring wind that strides through the canyon. the slight sound of smoothly flowing water. you see that impressive wide view of an alien desert like environment… to finally look up into the sky to see a planet’s asteroid belt rising… soon followed by the planet itself.

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

what you see here is a panorama. a wallpaper thought for dual-screen setup.

the actual terragen background consists of 7 different pics. merged and maniped together within photoshop. that was quite a task… beside the usual manip work i did. for the planet i used parts *alyn‘s planet tutorial and it offered me some hints how to create the belt for the planet. my overall target was to create a well balanced serene scene… and i think i succeeded. a great start into 2005.

D³SCR!PTION

this is a picture i had in mind quite a time now. like gleisshammer i got the idea almost a year ago. a pure sea scenery with wonderful warm colors. a picture you can look at with a wish to be there. the feel the sun on your skin and the soft winds striding through your hairs.

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

the basic pic i used here was rendered 3 times. everytime with different settings. i blended them in photoshop and deleted all stuff i didn’t need for the actual pic. since all is water it damn took a while to get the pics rendered. in photoshop i added fog, sunbeams and stars for the sky. also some clouds that i laid over to creat a more intense feeling of depth. you’ll notice that, where the sun is set over the horizon, we have a straight line. right in the middle of the haze – that’s actually because the suns heat paved a way through the atmosphere and vaporized the fog/haze in that area. that gives a ‘gate’ like look i really like in this piece. in the end it’s a simple piece that focus lies on colors and composition…

NOT MEANT TO LOOK LIKE A REALITY SIMULATION – IT’s FANTASY!

D³SCR!PTION

this time i tried to follow an advice by a friend who told me to not overload my pics with details. in my previous pieces i had a lot of details and added more and more. from my point of view they were good for the pieces. but this time i follow the advice to not add too much. what we have here is, again, a fictional scenery on a distant planet somewhere in our universe. the sheer mass of planets and stars out there should make it possible that a scenery like this really exists. i guess everyone who looks at this piece will never see something like this for real… but we still have our imagination, right? so please take a look at the pic – then close your eyes and imagine you’re inside the scenery. you can see the planet rising on the horizon. you feel the winds that stride through your hair… and you take a deep breath of the fresh clear air. if you can imagine this while keeping the pic in mind… i have succeded with my piece.

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

this time i haven’t tried to improve. this time i tried to create a different kind of scenery from my usual stuff. i rendered the pic 2 times with different atmosphere and water settings. i combined the pics in PScs to make them fit to the idea i had in mind. later on i added the big planet – clouds abd particular parts of very early renders of mine. also added various textures to the clouds. the clouds needed the most attention in this one – i’m still not happy but i don’t know what else more to do. the terrain was from the net somewhere… and the atmosphere file i got from *hypnotic. though i changed a lot of settings to make them match my ideas… thanks out to *hypnotic.

NC17 – Enjoy Your Life

Thursday, September 16th, 2004

Well, as some might know a friend of mine works a lot with ebay and has a lot of stuff to sell there. It’s actually an online shop my friend runs there. And she does an outstanding job with that. Recently she got these bags, pockets things. As i took some shots for the ebay presentation some excellent ideas came up. The whole look and the message printed inside the bag are perfect for a pic with a double meaning. After a lot of brainstorming i finished one idea… and the result can be seen here.

When these bag, pocket things will be selled they’ll be delivered with one print of the piece above.

A nice marketing idea i think.

Happy viewing…

on the balkony of a friend i discovered that fly and took maybe 30 close ups of that insect. it felt like the fly was posing for me. everyone knows that song “sitting on the dock of the bay”, or at least heard of the title… i thought an adaption of that title would work nicely here.

my first shoot with a model. actually no real model… just a friend. my friend had this idea with that tunnel we visited, on a small phototour, a few days ago. so we went to it yesterday to take some more professional shots with tripod and long exposure. we experimented around and finally got some good results.

don’t mind the title… there’s no big story behind it. i just thought it fits good to the mood.

happy viewing…

ps: visit my friends gallery ~bka-ratte for more shots from our session. he’s still a photography learner… but has some talent i try to improve with him.

Tannhauser Gate

D³SCR!PTION

this time inspired by the movie ‘blade runner’. there’s this wonderful ending sequence – people that know the movie surely know what i mean. the pic is based on a little speech that one of the characters speaks at the end of the movie.

“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe: attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain… Time to die.” one of ‘these’ moments in movie making history. i love it.

i don’t know if there is a region in space that is called tannhauser gate. my search in the net was not successful. so to all you space scientists… if you ever discover a gate-like nebula or nova, then call it tannhauser gate! it’s such an impressive name.

THE WAY GOD MADE ME

D³SCR!PTION

thomas newman – road to chicago & reading home, from the movie soundtrack of ‘road to perdition’, are some musical advices i can recommend while viewing this pic.

i kissed the ‘flow’ with that piece. ideas came from alone and the execution was easy to do. so i finnished this one after 15 hrs of work. again i tried a lot and found new innovative ways to improve my work even more. a lot of manipulation went into this after the rendering process. used a lot of my own photography to add textures, atmosphere and effects. was pretty funny to watch the pic grow more and more. some might also recognize that there’s an imense part of LAND in this piece. my sceneries usually have more water than land, but i tried something different this time.

for the title… i got inspired by a song of chantal kreviazuk called ‘this is the way (god made me)’. a wonderful canadian female singer and piano player. i chose that title because i thought about the process of creating such a pic. it’s like playing god – creating an own world by the way YOU want. yeah – it feels a little, just a little, bit god like!
