And another one for the captured beauty series.

CLOSE YOUR EYES

D³SCR!PTION

My last space art try lies a bit back and i felt i needed to try it again. I thought about a new pic quite some time… months to be accurate. I thought about what i could create. How the setup should be. What elements i should implement. Gods adagio [link] , my last space work, got some nice feedback and i tried to take out all suggestions what to make better. I found that the overall coloring was quite chaotic in gods adagio… though it’s an important element of the pic because if offers so many color combinations that the eye seems to be busy for ever to get the whole spectrum and complexity lol. But it’s too much really. i tried to change that with my new pic. i tried a more peaceful nebula. Still with strong colors that can catch the eye… but very balanced and not too chaotic. I also refined my skills in planet creation a bit more. All in all a training piece in space art for me. With a very pleasing result to me…

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

Technically is not much to say. Everything was created with photoshop. For the nebula elements i used photography and manipulated it to get the desired look. Space works are always the hardest to work with for me. The psd files always get overnatural heavy and it’s very hard to get a fluid workflow.

STATS

createded with // photoshop cs, canon 20d photography
creative process time // over a period of 4 weeks (ca. 28 hours)
total filesize // *.psd with a res. of 3000×4500 -> 457mb
total layers // about 110
inspired by // `hameed – `alyn – ~ sirgerg

The wallpaper pack contains 5 different wps in 1600×1200 (each has about 1mb). Plus the deviation picture. The reason for the large 1600×1200 res is easy… it’s the most compatible resolution to easily downsize to 1280×960 / 1024×768 / 800×600. The wallpaper pack is almost 10mb large. I’m sorry for that… quality counts.

CAPTURED BEAUTY

This is the shot i started my captured beauty series. It actually was only a test shot i made with my, back then, new sigma macro lens. The result blew me away and i extended it to a series.

ASTOUNDING

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005

D³SCR!PTION

this one actually has no big story. it was created… just ‘because’. if you know what i mean. pulsar dawn: [link] brought up a thought in me that told me to try a combination of apophysis and terragen. i tried it in pulsar dawn but there the apo stuff destroyed the lines and flow of the pic. here in astounding it works great. imagine to stand on top of that mountain in the lower right and you look at this gorgeous sunrise. wouldn’t that be ASTOUNDING?

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

well, business as usual. terragen for the basic render finished up in photoshop. for this project i introduce apophysis to my manip technique. it worked out pretty sexy and i think you people will like it. this pic required not as much manip work as the usual tg stuff i create. most of the things you see here is pure terragen… different renders merged in photoshop. a lot of detail work went into the water… the waves. i love the waves in this pic.

STATS

rendered with // terragen ver. 9.19 / apophysis
rendered resolution // 5000×3333
rendering time // 5 rendered pics – ca. 35 hours
render without post process // [link]
post process done in // photoshop cs
post process time // over a period of 3 weeks (ca. 25 hours work)
total filesize // *.psd with a res. of 5000×3333 -> 355mb
total layers // ca. 32 (plus 30 small xtra layers for waves add ins)

ECHOES OF THE PAST

Tuesday, February 15th, 2005

I got this shot on the Leipzig central trainstation. It always was a place that amazed me. The breathtaking hall where the trains arrive. The iron skeleton that builds the roof. Finest construction work. I luckily managed to capture this shot with almost no people in it. I love the noire kind of look in it.

Just a tiny idea. =)

THINKING

Wednesday, January 26th, 2005

This was one of the first shots i made with my Canon 20d. A friend of mine did some postwork on the shot to make it look more analog style like. I think the shot works. Hope you like it too!

WHERE IS MY MIND

D³SCR!PTION

Well Well, my artistic sense told me to try myself on an abstract again. So i did. And i like the result. It looks so much better than my old tries and i tell you… the print looks totally awesome.

TECHN!CAL DETA!LS

There’s not much to say technically. ~ Zygrael inspired me to this piece with one of his works. It’s rendered in bryce (4000×6000 and worked on that res in PS = hell of a print) and heavily altered with photoshop.

TWO HEARTS

Friday, January 14th, 2005

Recently i went through my photo archive to delete all stuff i actually don’t need anymore. Suddenly i discovered that old treasure and took it into photoshop right away. The pic went through color balancing and contrast enhancements… voila! Great piece with a fantastic message.
