Movie Reviews!

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

tigaer-design.com newsOn deviantart journals i started to write some personal reviews of movies i had the pleasure to watch. No matter if new or older releases, dvd or big screen. I now decided to move that part onto my website, just for fun. Maybe there are some people interested in them. A few… almost… no one i guess. lol Whatever. I’m a movies fan and added a new category to the site where you can find my opinions of recently released movies. I hope the number of articles will grow over time. For now there are 8 reviews (and counting). Check it out if you’re interested.

Back To The Future Update

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

tigaer-design.com newsThere are pictures you cannot ignore. They keep you busy and thinking. For me it’s my ‘back to the future’ painting. Last week i took myself, again, some time to refine a few smaller details. Wallpapers and everything have been updated. Aside from that i have some comcept pics ready and a bigger painting. A photorealistic painting… haven’t done one in quite a while. I really dig the painting and hope you guys will too. Stay Tuned!!!

RAYGUN REVIVAL Feature & Interview

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

newsJohne Cook from raygun revival magazine emailed me a few weeks ago for a short interview and the permission to use some of my paintings. I took myself some time to gather some info about the magazine and came to the conclusion that i really loved the idea/concept behind the magazine. Much like the ‘amazing stories’ magazines from the 50s and 60s this mag gives unknown science fiction and fantasy writers a plattform to publish their stories. Issue 46, beside the stories, also features some of my work and a short interview. Check it out if you are interested!

Games Convention 2008

Monday, September 1st, 2008

tigaer-design.com newsLast weekend i had the pleasure to visit europe’s biggest game industry exhibition in leipzig. A friend of mine and i went there sunday, the last day of the exhibition. Therefor it wasn’t too crowded. Last and first time i went there was 2006… the saturday… and it was fullll of visitors. Not a bad thing but very exhausting in the end. A lot of big things to see there. From wow to call of duty 5. There was also a smaller area for digital art. Some familiar pieces i recognized from the expose books i’m in too. They also had some workshops about 3d stuff as well as some painting/2d matters. It was very interesting. Watched a matte painting workshop hosted by an internet buddy of mine. Nothing new to learn but interesting nonetheless! I also noticed more female visitors at the show. I guess the concept of the nintendo wii and ds are paying off with attracting non-hardcore gamer types to videogames. Overall i must say that the games become more and more like movies. The visual quality is pretty stunning… and will get much much better in the next years. No idea where it leads to. Well knowing that the games industry, worldwide, already makes more money than the movie industry.

So much for this!

WP 2.6 Update & Small Changes

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

tigaer-design.com newsDue to a problem i had with my galleries i updated my wordpress to 2.6. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. After some heavy trail & error i found a rather unconventional way to solve my problem. Thank god. I also restructured the galleries a bit. As you can see, in the menu on the right, there are two digital painting galleries now. I had the feeling to keep it the way it was might have resulted in a too overloaded gallery. Splitting it up leaves a bit more room to breathe. I’m also thinking about doing that with the photo gallery. We’ll see. That’s pretty much it for now.

Have fun on the site!

Exhibition Pics

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

newsHere i have a small collection of pics regarding the exhibition that started 2 weeks ago. The bitterfeld wasserzentrum is a complex built off an old water reserve structure. Now it’s a well known place for schools to visit because they transformed it into a place of learning. Now you can learn everything about water, how we can handle and what we can do with it, there. Lots of great experiments you can try yourself at. A fun place! Like i earlier said, exhibition wise, it’s a nice thing to talk to people who are interested in what you’re doing and what you have to show. It can be quite a motivation and i had a nice time explaining my stuff. And, as far as i can tell, people enjoyed listening. All in all a very satisfying experience for me. And i think everyone who attended had a nice time too.

Exhibition Starts

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

ausstellungA few weeks ago i mentioned an exhibition. Which is exactly opening this weekend in my old hometown bitterfeld. It was quite some work to get the pics up there. Now everthing is prepared and i hope it all works out nicely. I’m not overly excited but nonetheless it’s nice and i’m glad to have the chance to see the printed pictures in good size. Among the pictures, which were sponsored by ORWO pixelnet, are examples from all through the series. A bit from everything. A colourful mix. Now lets see if i can get something out of it. I hope i can post some pics when i’m home again. The heat is killing me here and i need my own bed desperately! For now a thanks to everyone who was helping us pulling it off.

expose 6
newsOver the past 4 weeks i got my editions of the latest release of the expose digital art book series. We are now on number 6. In #6 i was lucky enough to become featured with my ‘long way home‘ matte painting. Once again i have to say that i’m very proud to have my art right next to some very very talented people’s work. It’s a book of dreams. All the worlds and ideas you see within the art really captures you and is a great source of inspiration.

Again i recognized a lot of work in the book that i saw on communities like cgsociety or deviantart earlier. Lots of fellow artists made it into the book and i want to congratulate them on this occasion.

The books themselves are made of a great quality which makes them really worth their cash. I even got me some gloves that i use when i skim through the pages of the books. I don’t want to ruin the quality too soon.

ALIENIZED 3

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

I recently cleaned up my photo archive a bit and found this cute little thing in it. It’s from a session aaaaages ago… almost 2yrs now i think. I was playing around with the shot and suddenly i saw a snail in it. Very abstract of course.

What if this were a creature on a desert planet which lives only like 4 weeks or so. What it does to survive is carrying around two, very precious, water droplets over these 4 weeks. Therefor this creature only lives in very special places.

Well heh, i would love the idea to have captured a creature no one else has ever seen before. *eyes* Maybe i did here. *eyes eyes*

*the usual equipment: canon 20d, sigma 105mm macro
*no digital manips except color enhancement, sharpening
