PIXELARTS is a Digital Art Magazine that focusses on individual artists as well as Production and Studios. It’s rich of pictures and inspiring artwork for everyone who is interested in the matter. Most importantly… it’s free! I had the honour to be featured in this latest issue 13. I just checked out this months issue and again it holds some very inspiring work on its pages. THE EXPEDITION

Vue is your friend! When you’re not exactly the most talented painter then Vue really helps you to create a base for your idea. The weird rock formations/mountains were quickly modelled in C4d and imported to Vue. Ecosystems added a plantlife quickly and kaboom… it’s rendered. Then the fun can happen in Photoshop. This painting is, again, some sort of training piece. Basically i wanted to create a strangely familiar, yet exotic, looking place. It’s also a different colorpalette. Surely a nice addition to my portfolio. When you check the plate (link beneath the description) you will notice how much work was done in Photoshop. Basically i used digital painting to extend different elements and got me some good photo textures to add the level of detail i wanted. The ships were added late in the process and are completely painting. Now i would love to explore this planet with one of those ships!

This one was created on one evening, just for fun. I tested the performance of my machine in apophysis and fiddled around with the results in photoshop. What i had on my screen in the end looked kinda cool so i thought i’d create a spontaneus wallpaper pack. =) It contains all the important sizes from 800×600 to 1920×1200… 6 digfferent sizes. So there should be a fitting one for everybody!

CDS12032009 – Creation Process – High Quality – Here we go with a cityscape kind of thing. We use perspective lines that help us to keep everythng straight and somewhat realistic looking. At least in perspective. The painting, of course, is very loose. I also tried to get in some colors. I kinda like the result of this one! Hope you too. =)

CDS26022009 – Creation Process – High Quality – And another one! This time a ship design again. I tried to do a something more exotic look here and i think i nailed it pretty good. I’d say it’s some sort of organic technology we see here. That’s at least what the insectoid look makes you think.

CDS24022009 – Creation Process – High Quality – Like the previous shorts this one was also a test to find the right settings for screen recording. Here we have me trying so do some abstract landscape stuff. It was fun and i should do more stuff like this. This time i also changed the Photoshop setup so you people can see a bit what’s happening in the palettes.

It’s been a while with concept art gallery additions. The time was not wasted! If you follow my news then you already saw 2 creation progress videos of two ship designs i did. There is more to come. CDS23022009 – Creation Process – High Quality – This is another test for capturing my work process on screen. This design looks much better than the previous one. That’s at least what i think. It’s a neat, slick and speedy flyer we got here. I noticed that i did not have the palettes on screen while working… so in the following, not this one, video i changed my photoshop layout from dualscreen to singlescreen so you can see a bit more what’s happening in the palettes.

From time to time i’m trying myself in more abstract Photography. This picture here is the result of one of such tries. It has a very industrial feel and look to it, which i, for a long time, wasn’t sure about. Now i rediscovered the pic and decided to give it some exposure.

DESCENT HEART

This piece was done by me using a very different technique than usual. It clearly is a digital painting. The painting started as a just for fun design like the ones you can find in my concept art gallery. I created a nice flyer and wanted to have a cool background for it. I started and… got into a flow. I really liked what was happening on my screen. The rough shapes becoming more and more detailed. Ending up in being a painting that shows a truly amazing environment. Sometimes you are surprised by yourself when you see the end product of a project. That’s the case here. Really like the result of this project. The rough look really adds to it as well. Working with custom brushes can really boost imagination. This painting was done in a very good time. I needed a good week to get it done. That’s pretty fast for me.
